Jeff Green netted 25 points and Marcus Thornton added 21 for the Celtics, who have won three in a row on the heels of a five-game losing streak. Rasual Butler scored 22 points, John Wall had 17 points and 14 assists and Paul Pierce supplied 16 points in another game against his former team for Washington, which trailed by as many as 25 in the second half. Final Score: Atlanta 96, Denver 84 Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap scored 23 points, and Atlantas defense shut down Denver in a 96-84 win over the Nuggets on Sunday. The Hawks, winners of six straight, limited the Nuggets to 36 first-half points and forced them to shoot just 6-of-35 from beyond the arc for the game. Kyle Korver added 15 points for Atlanta, and DeMarre Carroll and Al Horford each netted 11. Carroll and Horford had nine and eight rebounds, respectively. Wilson Chandler led the Nuggets with 29 points as they fell in their third straight game. Chandler also pulled down 10 rebounds. Timofey Mozgov chipped in 14 points with 11 rebounds, and Alonzo Gee added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting off the bench. Final Score: Oklahoma City 96, Detroit 94 Auburn Hill, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder overcame a halftime deficit to beat the lowly Detroit Pistons. Scott Brooks team might still be a little rusty with its two stars back in the lineup, but Durant had 28 points and the Thunder did enough to beat the Pistons 96-94 on Sunday. Durant, in his third game back from offseason foot surgery, made 10 of his 19 shots in his best shooting performance so far, and Russell Westbrook scored 22 with 11 rebounds and seven assists in his fourth game back after missing 14 with a broken hand. Serge Ibaka added 13 points and 13 rebounds in Oklahoma Citys fourth win in its last five. Final Score: Memphis 103, Miami 87 Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jon Leuer poured in 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in just 24 minutes off the bench as the Memphis Grizzlies downed the Miami Heat, 103-87, at FedExForum on Sunday. Memphis shot a season-high 58.9 percent from the floor to bounce back from having its 22-game home winning streak broken by the Spurs on Friday. Mike Conley chipped in 18 points on 8- for-8 shooting, while Zach Randolph and Courtney Lee both added 17 in the winning cause. Dwyane Wade paced Miami with 25 points and six assists, but the Heat dropped their fourth straight. Final Score: Dallas 125, Milwaukee 102 Dallas, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Chandler Parsons scored a game-high 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting and the Dallas Mavericks dominated the Milwaukee Bucks, 125-102, on Sunday. The Mavs shot 58 percent from the field and made 12 3- pointers to bounce back from a home loss to the Suns on Friday. They have won six of seven overall. Dirk Nowitzki chipped in 21 points and Monta Ellis, who beat the Bucks with a buzzer-beater last Wednesday, added 19 for the victors. All five Bucks starters scored in double figures, but Milwaukee turned the ball over 19 times and fell back to .500 (11-11) with its fourth loss in five games. Giannis Antetokounmpo led the way with 18 points while Zaza Pachulia contributed 14 with eight rebounds off the bench. Final Score: Portland 103, New York 99 New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge posted his fifth straight double-double and the Portland Trail Blazers kicked off a five-game road trip with a 103-99 win over the New York Knicks. The Knicks led 97-96 late in the fourth when Aldridge made a pair of free throws to put Portland in front. Aldridge then converted a layup and after Amare Stoudemires dunk had the Knicks within one, he potted a stepback jumper for a 102-99 edge. Carmelo Anthony and Pablo Prigioni missed jumpers on the next two Knicks touches, and Wesley Matthews split a pair of free throws to seal the contest. Final Score: New Orleans 104, LA Lakers 87 Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jrue Holiday made a season-high four 3- pointers and totaled 22 points with eight assists in the New Orleans Pelicans 104-87 rout of the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples Center. Anthony Davis scored a game-high 23 points on 11-of-15 shooting for the Pelicans, who had lost five of six and were on the second of a back-to-back to close out a three-game road trip. Ryan Anderson contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. Shaking up the starting lineup wasnt enough to jumpstart the Lakers, who remain near the bottom of the Western Conference standings after yet another convincing defeat. Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer were moved to the bench in favor of Ed Davis and Ronnie Price after a 5-15 start to the season. Davis and Boozer both had 12 points in their new roles while the guards struggled to the tune of three points apiece. Giannis Antetokounmpo Jersey . "After consultation with the Team USA medical staff and officials, it was determined that he should return to Winnipeg as a precaution due to his previous injury history," Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said Wednesday in a statement.LONDON -- A day after goalkeeper Hugo Lloris was briefly knocked unconscious but continued to play, Tottenham defended its decision despite criticism from FIFA and the football players union. Lloris was knocked out Sunday when his head smashed into Everton striker Romelu Lukakus knee during a Premier League match. The goalkeeper was treated on the field but, despite medical advice and not remembering the incident, he was allowed to continue playing. "The player should have been substituted," FIFA chief medical officer Professor Jiri Dvorak said. "The fact the other player needed ice on his knee means its obvious the blow was extensive. "Its a 99 per cent probability that losing consciousness in such an event will result in concussion." On Monday, Tottenham said that brain scans gave Lloris the all-clear. But the extent of the injury would not have been known during the match. "When he has been knocked unconscious, the player himself may not see the reality," Dvorak said. By allowing Lloris to finish the match, the FIFPro players union said Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas and his staff "failed to protect the goalkeeper." "FIFPro condemns that the health and safety of players are left to coaches/trainers or even to players themselves," FIFPro medical advisor Vincent Gouttebarge said. "Medical professionals should be aware of any relevant medical guidelines and apply them in order to empower the health and safety on the field. The health and safety of the players should be the No. 1 priority and should prevail against any other matters." English Football Associatioon regulations say that a player who is treated after being "immobile and unresponsive to verbal commands following a head injury" should not return to action that day.dddddddddddd But if the player experiences "a transient alteration of conscious level," he can resume playing. "If there is any doubt, keep the player out," Dvorak said. The Professional Footballers Association in England said that players who suffer severe head injuries or loss of consciousness should automatically be taken off. "When treating a player on the pitch, it can be very difficult to determine the severity of a head injury," PFA deputy chief executive John Bramhall said. "It is important to take the pressure off the players, club medical staff, and the manager -- removing the need for them to make a very difficult decision." Tottenham, however, saw nothing wrong with its decision to allow Lloris to continue. "Once the relevant tests and assessments were carried out we were totally satisfied that he was fit to continue playing," said Wayne Diesel, Tottenhams head of medical services. Football has been subjected to less focus on how it handles concussions than other sports, which experience more impact injuries. In August, the NFL agreed to pay $765 million to settle lawsuits from thousands of former players who developed dementia or other concussion-related health problems. More than 4,500 former players, some of them suffering from Alzheimers disease or depression, accused the NFL of concealing the long-term dangers of concussions and rushing injured players back onto the field.
